Welcome, here I will tell you how our wonderful breed got started.

A man named Wally Cochran, who lived in Victoria, Australia in 1988, got a request from a blind woman in Hawaii, whose husband was highly allergic to dogs, to create a hypoallergenic and easy to handle guide dog. After a few trial and errors, he finally found the perfect match for the couple, the Labradoodle. At first the breed didn’t catch on very well, but after he aired on channel 9 to “walk the new breed of guide dog,” he also coined the name “Labradoodles.”

As most know, Labradoodles, as any other breed, has a variety of coats and textures. Their coats can come in three basic forms, curly, flat, and wavy. They come in a few textures as well, wooly, fleecy, or a little course. The curly coated Labradoodle looks more like its Poodle heritage than a flat or wavy coated Doodle. The flat coat resembles the look of a Labrador, and the wavy coat is in between both. As for the textures, the fleece coat has a distinctly soft fleecy feel unlike any other dog coat. It hangs in loose loopy spirals like that of the Angora goat. The Wool Curly coat resembles that of a poodle and feels like a soft woolly sweater. Both coat types are little to no shedding and allergy friendly. The coats come in a variety of colors including: Black, Silver, Cream, Apricot Cream, Chalk, Gold, Red, Apricot, Chocolate, and Café. Also the Labradoodles are well known for being very friendly, intelligent, and easily trained. They usually serve well as family pets and service dogs.
